Did you know that the World Pet Association does so much more than putting on America’s Family Pet Expo? Every year, the World Pet Association uses the proceeds from the Expo to better the pet industry through various charitable causes. Annual causes include the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (monitors legislative issues nationwide that may impact the pet industry) and the Pet Care Trust’s Pets in the Classroom program (aids teachers in using pets for educational purposes in the school setting), among others.
Now, the World Pet Association is excited to announce its newest endeavor – becoming the first corporate “Patch Reef” level sponsor by donating $25,000 to the Coral Restoration Foundation (CRF). The funding will be used to cover costs to grow “threatened” staghorn coral (Acropora cervicornis) and outplant nursery-raised colonies to a reef offshore Key Largo named “White Bank”. This reef is one of the most popular snorkeling sites in Key Largo with tens of thousands of snorkelers swimming over the shallow area every year.
